Hi all!
Thought I’d try my hand at Goodreads Monday this week. This meme was originally started by Lauren’s Page Turners, and involves picking a book from your Goodreads TBR list and explaining why you want to read it. This week’s book is: Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson.

All sorcerers are evil. Elisabeth has known that as long as she has known anything. Raised as a foundling in one of Austermeer’s Great Libraries, Elisabeth has grown up among the tools of sorcery—magical grimoires that whisper on shelves and rattle beneath iron chains. If provoked, they transform into grotesque monsters of ink and leather. She hopes to become a warden, charged with protecting the kingdom from their power.
Then an act of sabotage releases the library’s most dangerous grimoire. Elisabeth’s desperate intervention implicates her in the crime, and she is torn from her home to face justice in the capital. With no one to turn to but her sworn enemy, the sorcerer Nathaniel Thorn, and his mysterious demonic servant, she finds herself entangled in a centuries-old conspiracy. Not only could the Great Libraries go up in flames, but the world along with them.
As her alliance with Nathaniel grows stronger, Elisabeth starts to question everything she’s been taught—about sorcerers, about the libraries she loves, even about herself. For Elisabeth has a power she has never guessed, and a future she could never have imagined. (Goodreads).

I tried to read this once but I don’t think I was in the right mood to properly appreciate all that this book has to offer. I mean…
- It’s about magical BOOKS —> be still my beating heart! Wouldn’t we all want to fight evil in a library?
- Nathaniel sounds like a champ! I love the good ol’ ‘is he reeeeally the bad guy?’ trope where her assumptions get turned upside down and inside out.
- The cover is divine. Just for that alone it’s worth giving a try.

I’m SO excited to read Sorcery of Thorns?! It sounds amazing! I hope you love it💜

I keep changing my mind about wanting to read this… I’m strange like that when it comes to fantasy lol! Even had it on loan from the library and brought it back unread ooops 🙈😂

HAHA… I’ve done that with so many books. Mainly Christina Laurens’ romances and The Arc of Scythe series. Hopefully this one is worth the reading time 😀

For some reason… Despite the hype… And the fact that I’ve added it on my Goodreads TBR… I had never stopped to read SOT’s synopsis? I feel ashamed. BUT NOW I BADLY WANT TO READ IT!!

HAHA.. I’m guilt of doing that too 😛 It’s so easy (and exciting) to fall in to the hype and just try it regardless. I’m glad you’re excited to read it though!! 😀

I LOVED this book but also it does kind of start off very ‘meh’ to me. I really want to reread this one but so many books in my TBR to get to!
