Goodreads Monday

Hi all!

Thought I’d try my hand at Goodreads Monday this week. This meme was originally started by Lauren’s Page Turners, and involves picking a book from your Goodreads TBR list and explaining why you want to read it. This week’s book is: Wild at Heart (Wild #2) by K. A Tucker.

Publication: 3 March, 2020

Do I really need to even justify this book with a blurb? For those of you who have not (unfortunately) read A Simple Wild by K.A Tucker, this is the unexpected and highly anticipated (at least in my case) sequel. I love stories that seem to get relatively easy HEAs and then the author decides to stretch it out. Not only does it mean we get more Jonah and Calla, it also means that we get to see a sneak peak in to their lives after the supposed HEA.

Things aren’t always easy after HEA and I enjoy reading about the more ‘mundane’ aspects of making a relationship work long term. Especially when one character has to make a sacrifice for the sake of the other – these decisions are easy to make in the heat of a moment but the long lasting influence of them is what I love to read about ❤

For those of you who haven’t read A Simple Wild, here is the synopsis:

Calla Fletcher wasn’t even two when her mother took her and fled the Alaskan wild, unable to handle the isolation of the extreme, rural lifestyle, leaving behind Calla’s father, Wren Fletcher, in the process. Calla never looked back, and at twenty-six, a busy life in Toronto is all she knows. But when Calla learns that Wren’s days may be numbered, she knows that it’s time to make the long trip back to the remote frontier town where she was born.

She braves the roaming wildlife, the odd daylight hours, the exorbitant prices, and even the occasional—dear God—outhouse, all for the chance to connect with her father: a man who, despite his many faults, she can’t help but care for. While she struggles to adjust to this rugged environment, Jonah—the unkempt, obnoxious, and proud Alaskan pilot who helps keep her father’s charter plane company operational—can’t imagine calling anywhere else home. And he’s clearly waiting with one hand on the throttle to fly this city girl back to where she belongs, convinced that she’s too pampered to handle the wild.

Jonah is probably right, but Calla is determined to prove him wrong. Soon, she finds herself forming an unexpected bond with the burly pilot. As his undercurrent of disapproval dwindles, it’s replaced by friendship—or perhaps something deeper? But Calla is not in Alaska to stay and Jonah will never leave. It would be foolish of her to kindle a romance, to take the same path her parents tried—and failed at—years ago. It’s a simple truth that turns out to be not so simple after all.

  1. SQUEALING!!!! Omg I can’t believe I hadn’t seen this cover but I love everything about it and it’s giving me such strong Simple Wild feels 😭I might need to re-read that book soon but I’m honestly a little scared of this sequel. I was so happy with Jonah and Calla’s HEA … I want them to keep having their HEA, Jen! Haha 🤣 I can’t wait for this book…

    • I knowww! I enjoyed the ending but I also like to see more of their relationship when things start getting tough on a day to day. Also – pretty much any excuse to read more Jonah 😍 I hope they go back to Alaska!!

    • Thanks Joanna! I know the feeling. When something is hyped it usually takes me quite a while to give it a try. I really enjoyed this one though (I don’t like any of her other series) so I hope you give it a try sometime 🙂
