I was tagged by the lovely Brittany over at Perfectly Tolerable and loved the books she chose for each category, so be sure to check hers out.
This tag makes me long for hot summery days where I can spend my time relaxing on the beach with a good book. As a Perth, Australia, gal it’s currently the middle of winter and the sunny days couldn’t seem further away. This book tag is a nice respite from the drudge of endlessly rainy days…

This has to be my most anticipated read for September. I’ve been eagerly counting down the days until its release on September 3rd. I hope it will meet all of my hyped up expectations!
This book took me completely by surprise when I read it for the first time. The sparks and chemistry flying in between Feyre and Rhysand were off-the-charts and even though I’ve read many romances that are arguably more firey, i.e. explicit in nature, this one was the first that came to mind.
There’s no greater journey, in my opinion, than the one taken in The Hobbit. This was my first Tolkien read and is still one that I adore and will re-read over and over and over again. Fili and Kili will always have a piece of my heart!
If you don’t know already, I’m a MASSIVE sports fan. It was pretty inevitable then that I would have a major crush on Aiden Graves. This book is a sum up of my ultimate weakness: sports romance with a slow-burn and moody male character. It’s quite literally all of my favourite tropes in one glorious book.
There are really so, so, so many books I could put forward for this category. The most recent one that really captured all of my time and attention was Lady Midnight. I read it all in one sitting and was left feeling bereft. Note to future self: only start great books when you’ve got the sequel right next to you!
I adored Marriage for One. As the perfect slow-burn, this book captured my attention and was impossible for me to put down. It would have fit perfectly into the previous category but the sweetness of some of the tender, quirky moments between Jack and Rose made it an obvious choice for this one. It completely stole my heart and is an all-time-fav.
The ending of this book (no spoilers) made this an utter breath of fresh air. This book kind of broke me with its sweetness, sadness and the unexpected turns it kept taking. It was like a mini emotional rollercoaster for my sappy heart and I was equally frustrated and in adoration with it. This was a true breath of fresh air from what I usually love in books.
There are so many obstacles in Heir of Fire that it seemed an obvious choice. Following Celeana’s journey and growth in this book made it my favourite in the Throne of Glass series. Plus, the last 10% of the book completely took me by surprise.
Nuts was such a sweet and spicy romance. I couldn’t put it down! Alice Clayton has mastered the art of putting a romantic comedy into a book.
This was my first Stephen King novel, even though it’s a memoir and not one of the works he’s usually famed for. I learnt so much from this book. He simply, yet profoundly, addresses key issues and aspects of writing in a book that is now my version of a Holy Grail. This book inspired me the first time I read it and keeps inspiring me every time I re-read. I adore this!
